Hōkūleʻa Spotted Huahine

At 7:00am on July 13th, the canoes Hōkūle’a, Hikianalia, and Fa’afaite departed Opunohu Bay, Moorea enroute for Ra’iatea. Winds were light but favorable, blowing in the east. When night hit, the canoes were faced with cloud coverage and squalls. Even after last night, early this morning around 6:15am the island of Huahine was spotted and confirmed by the Hōkūle’a and Hikiananlia. The Hōkūle’a, Hikiananlia and Fa’afaite are enroute to Ra’iatea, just a few miles past Huahine. At the current pace of the canoes,  Ra’iatea is only 12 hours away.
