The Five Best Golf Courses in Hawai‘i

When we talk about the best Hawai‘i golf courses, it’s hard to narrow down our favorites. So, this list of the top five best courses to explore was far from easy. That being said, with the kickoff of the 2023 PGA Tour season and the new additions and colors to our golf collection, we wanted to provide you with a little bit of inspiration for the year ahead. Kukui‘ula Golf Course, Kaua‘i

 

The Kukui'ula Golf Course is a championship course located on Kaua‘i. It was designed by golf course architect Tom Weiskopf and opened in 2009. This iconic Kaua‘i golf course is known for its challenging layout and stunning natural surroundings. The course features rolling terrain, water hazards, and wide fairways. It has received rave reviews from golfers for its challenging layout and beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. It is a par 72 course that measures 7,165 yards from the back tees and was designed by Ted Robinson Sr. The course is known for its challenging layout, featuring water hazards, bunkers, and undulating greens, as well as its beautiful tropical setting. Ko Olina Golf Course is located within the Ko Olina Resort community, which also includes several luxury hotels, a marina, and a variety of recreational amenities. The club features two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio, as well as a full-service clubhouse, fitness center, and spa. Another incredible option for those looking into Hawai‘i Island (aka Big Island) golf courses is the Nanea Golf Club designed by David McLay Kidd. Golf Digest has ranked it as the top course in Hawai‘i since 2013, and with its one-of-a-kind design and location on the slopes of Mount Hualalai, it's easy to see why. In addition to being one of the most alluring courses in Hawai‘i, it’s also one of the most exclusive. Membership is by invitation only, so you’ll have to befriend a member to enjoy a game here.

 

The Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui

 

Challenging layouts, dramatic ocean views, and generous greens await you at the iconic Plantation Course. There’s a reason it’s on the bucket list of so many golfers. Located on Maui, this par 73 course measures 7,411 yards from the back tees and was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The best part? You can enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui Mountains while playing.
