Fire Water: Surfing with Flares
Forget fireworks on the beach. Strap a road flare on your board and paddle out instead. That’s what professional surfer Bruce Irons set out to do after his buddy, pro surfer Sam McIntosh came up with the “bright” idea.
In a YouTube video posted by Red Bull, Irons explains that keeping the flares dry is tricky, and the flare must be cracked before catching the wave.
Despite the tedious steps, the rewarding finish is well worth the effort.
