At our core, we are storytellers. These stores give us an opportunity to bring mo‘olelo (stories) to life. Every design choice is rich with meaning, intended to be discovered, experienced and shared.
On the North Shore, the power of water hangs heavy in the air. Hale‘iwa, with its harbor and storefronts, stands as the gateway to the “7-Mile Miracle,” where waves of consequence arrive each winter. From mountains to sea, freshwater streams have historically sustained the land and people for countless generations, making Hale‘iwa both an agricultural hub and a gathering place for community.
All of the millwork is made by local craftsmen in Honolulu with live-edge wood pieces and our cashwrap is designed and built on the Big Island.
This mural is Chris Miyashiro’s re!ection on the balance between navigation and intuition, inspired by his voyages on the sailing canoe ‘A‘#. The shapes capture winds, swells, light, and horizon textures, while also honoring the human spirit and the ocean as a lifeline that unites us all.
The custom carpet represents water in both color and shape and envelopes the space like a wave. Handcrafted millwork from Honolulu and custom wood "nishes from Hawai‘i Island ensure that the space remains rooted to the Islands.
Pa‘a O Ka‘ala La‘a I Ka Wai Established is Ka‘ala. Sacred indeed is her water. This protocol statement pays tribute to the Hawaiian tradition of entering a space with respect and positive intention.
