Hawaiʻiloa Lā Ihu
(ha-vye-ee-loh-ah lah ee-hoo) Translation: a Sail Facing Toward the Fore of the Canoe
The Hawai’iloa Lā Ihu is a carefully crafted sandal designed to celebrate the legendary Hawai’iloa voyaging canoe. Each color used on the sandal’s leather footbed symbolizes a different characteristic intrinsic to the voyaging canoe: blue represents the water currents traveled during voyages, brown represents lauhala weaving as a symbol of community strength, and yellow represents rope lashings which hold Hawai’iloa together. Paired with premium leathers and a lower profile offering a clean look and comfortable feel.
Embroidered upper logo, laser-etched upper design details, digital-printed footbed artwork, outsole siping and medium weight decorative stitching.
Leather upper with a soft, comfortable leather lining and nylon toe post. Leather-etched strap details and embossed sailcloth texture at the toe badge. Features 4 hand stiches on the toe badge paying homage to the 400 year-old trees used to create the Hawai’iloa voyaging canoe.
Anatomical molded PU footbed with a lower profile for a modern look and feel. Covered with a premium full-grain leather and digital-printed with Hawai’iloa voyage artwork.
Non-marking rubber outsole, razor siped for added traction on wet surfaces, and leather inlay.
