(ha-vye-ee-loh-ah lah ee-hoo) Translation: a Sail Facing Toward the Fore of the Canoe
The Hawai’iloa Lā Ihu is a carefully crafted sandal designed to celebrate the legendary Hawai’iloa voyaging canoe. Each color used on the sandal’s leather footbed symbolizes a different characteristic intrinsic to the voyaging canoe: blue represents the water currents traveled during voyages, brown represents lauhala weaving as a symbol of community strength, and yellow represents rope lashings which hold Hawai’iloa together. Paired with premium leathers and a lower profile offering a clean look and comfortable feel.
